What we do

The right repair for each hazard.

Grinding handles most raised edges. Patching and replacement cover the rest. Our survey tells you which is which, location by location, before you approve anything.

Concrete Grinding

The fastest, least disruptive way to remove a raised edge. We bevel the high side back to a smooth, clean, non-slip surface.

  • Vertical displacement between ¼ inch and 2 inches at a joint or crack.
  • The surrounding concrete is otherwise sound.

Concrete Removal & Replacement

When a section is displaced more than 2 inches or too broken to save, we remove it, address the cause, and pour new concrete matched to its surroundings.

  • Vertical displacement of 2 inches or more.
  • Extensive cracking, or sections broken into multiple pieces.

Concrete Patch & Repair

Spalls, chips, broken edges, and cracks that cannot be ground are repaired with a bonded cement-polymer patch or crack injection.

  • Surface spalling, chips, or broken-out concrete at edges and joints.
  • Cracks that need to be sealed before they widen.

Annual Site Safety Reviews

A scheduled return visit each year to find and price new hazards before they become someone's fall.

  • You have already had trip hazards repaired and want to keep the property that way.
  • Your board wants a predictable line item for walkway maintenance instead of surprise repairs.

Our work

Before and after.

A good grind should be hard to notice. A good V-ditch should keep water where it belongs.

Tape measure showing the vertical displacement at a sidewalk joint
Before
Finished sidewalk grind with the trip hazard removed
After
Sidewalk joint grind

A raised joint measured on the survey, ground to a 1:8 bevel with a squared-off back edge. The adjacent slab is untouched.

Hillside V-ditch with a long open crack running down the channel, before repair
Before
The same V-ditch after crack repair, sealed and smooth
After
Hillside V-ditch crack repair

A long crack running down the channel was opened, cleaned, and sealed so runoff stays in the ditch instead of entering the slope.

Why it matters

A raised edge is a liability you can see.

Uneven walkways are one of the most common sources of trip-and-fall claims on community and commercial property. Knowing where the hazards are, and having a record that they were addressed, is most of the battle.

Is the site survey really free?
Yes. The survey and the written proposal are free and carry no obligation. You pay only for repairs you approve.
How do you decide between grinding and replacing a section?
By the measurement. Raised edges from ¼ inch up to 2 inches are ground. Over 2 inches, or where a section is badly cracked or being actively lifted by a root, we recommend removal and replacement. Defects that are not a height difference, such as spalls and chips, are patched. The proposal shows the recommendation for each location.
How disruptive is the work for residents?
Grinding is quick and quiet by construction standards. Each hazard typically takes minutes, the grinders have attached vacuums for dust control, and the noise is comparable to a leaf blower. Walkways stay open except for the few feet being worked on. Removal and replacement requires closing the section while new concrete cures, and we coordinate that timing with you.
What does a ground area look like afterward?
A clean, beveled slope with a straight back line. The ground surface is initially lighter than the surrounding concrete and the aggregate shows; it weathers toward the surrounding color over time. The finish is not slippery and has about the same traction as the undisturbed concrete.
